ICC holds Mass Outreach at Uganda’s Otuboi IDP camp

As part of the Court’s outreach strategy for Northern Uganda, an interactive meeting was held today between ICC officials and internally displaced people of Otuboi camp in the Kaberamaido district, in the Teso region. The open-air meeting was attended by about 1,000 participants, including about 800 adults and 200 pupils.
In collaboration with IDP camp leaders the meeting was held in order to share information about the Court’s current activities in Uganda and address concerns raised by the community. The community used a local drama group to recollect the suffering that they had experienced during LRA attacks on neighbouring villages.
The community invited the ICC to return as soon as possible to share information on selected issues in more detail. Pupils who joined the meeting, for instance, requested a session about how Court proceeding would affect children that suffered harm during the conflict in Northern Uganda.
During the meeting, Court officials circulated ICC materials in English, Luo and Iteso.
