Situation: Democratic Republic of the Congo
Case: The Prosecutor vs. Thomas Lubanga Dyilo 

On Monday 20 March, 2006, the Pre-Trial Chamber I held an initial public hearing during which the identity of Mr Thomas Lubanga Dyilo was verified. The Pre-Trial Chamber I also satisfied itself that Mr Thomas Lubanga Dyilo had been informed of the crimes which he is alleged to have committed, and of his rights under the Rome Statute, including the right to apply for interim release pending trial.

The duty counsel of Mr Lubanga, Mr Jean Flamme (Belgium), informed the Pre-Trial Chamber I that he will file a request to extend the deadline to appeal the Decision of the Pre-Trial Chamber I of 10 February 2006. He also informed the Chamber that he will file a request to be given access to all documents from the Prosecutor relating to the charges against Mr Lubanga.

The Pre-Trial Chamber I also provisionally set the confirmation of charges hearing for the 27 of June 2006.
