Eight States sign the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the International Criminal Court

This week, eight States signed the Agreement on Privileges and Immunities of the International Criminal Court (APIC). Jordan and the Republic of Korea signed on 28 June. On 29 June Latvia signed the Agreement. The Bahamas, Jamaica, Poland, Romania and Uruguay all signed on 30 June.

This brings the number of States Parties who have signed the Agreement to 62. Of these, 10 States are party to the Agreement.

According to Article 34 and 35 of the Agreement, it shall “be open for signature by all States from 10 September 2002 until 30 June 2004 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York” and “shall enter into force thirty days after the date of deposit with the Secretary-General of the tenth instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession”.
