Assembly of States Parties concludes its special session on disciplinary proceedings involving an elected official
The Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court ("the Assembly") held a special session on disciplinary proceedings involving an elected official on 24 July 2026 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The Assembly adopted a decision, by secret ballot, by an absolute majority of 82 States Parties, finding that Mr. Karim Khan committed serious misconduct and serious breach of duty and removed him from office under article 46 of the Rome Statute.
The Presidency of the Assembly continues to call for due respect for the privacy and the rights of all parties concerned.

The Assembly of States Parties is the management oversight and legislative body of the ICC. It is comprised of representatives of States that have ratified and acceded to the Rome Statute. The Bureau of the Assembly consists of a President, two Vice-Presidents and 18 members elected by the Assembly for three-year terms.

La Asamblea de los Estados Partes en el Estatuto de Roma de la Corte Penal Internacional («la Asamblea») celebró un período extraordinario de sesiones sobre las actuaciones disciplinarias relativas a un titular de un cargo electivo el 24 de julio de 2026 en la Sede de las Naciones Unidas en Nueva York.
La Asamblea adoptó una decisión, mediante votación secreta y por mayoría absoluta de 82 Estados Partes, en la que determinó que el Sr. Karim Khan incurrió en falta grave e incumplimiento grave de sus deberes y lo destituyó de su cargo en virtud del artículo 46 del Estatuto de Roma.
La Presidencia de la Asamblea sigue instando a que se respete debidamente la privacidad y los derechos de todas las partes interesadas.

La Asamblea de los Estados Partes es el órgano de supervisión administrativa y legislativa de la CPI. عقدت جمعية الدول الأطراف في نظام روما الأساسي للمحكمة الجنائية الدولية ("الجمعية") دورة استثنائية بشأن الإجراءات التأديبية المتعلقة بأحد أصحاب المناصب المنتخبة في 24 تموز/يوليو 2026 في مقر الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك.
واعتمدت الجمعية قراراً بالاقتراع السري، بأغلبية مطلقة وبالأغلبية المطلقة البالغة 82 دولة طرفاً، خلصت فيه إلى أنّ السيد كريم خان قد ارتكب سوء سلوك جسيم وإخلالاً جسيماً بالواجب، وقررت عزله من منصبه عملاً بالمادة 46 من نظام روما الأساسي.
وتواصل رئاسة الجمعية الدعوة إلى إيلاء الاحترام الواجب لخصوصية وحقوق جميع الأطراف المعنية.

وتُشكِّل جمعية الدول الأطراف هيئة الإشراف الإداري والهيئة التشريعية للمحكمة الجنائيّة الدوليّة. وهي تتألف من ممثلي الدول التي قامت بالتصديق على نظام روما الأساسي أو الانضمام إليه. ويتألف مكتب الجمعية من رئيس ونائبي رئيس و18 عضواً تنتخبهم الجمعية لولايات مدتها ثلاث سنوات.
