Professor Mireille Delmas-Marty is currently holding the chair of comparative legal studies and internationalization of law at the Collège de France. She began her career in 1981 at the Commission on Reform of the Penal Code. Following this position, for ten years she was President of the Commission justice pénale et droits de l'homme (Criminal Justice and Human Rights), in charge of procedural reform.
From 1992 to 2002, Ms. Delmas-Marty was Professor at Université Lille 2, Université Paris-Sud 11 and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and a member of l'Institut universitaire de France (University Institute of France).
During these ten years, she was also a member of the consulting committee for the revision of the Constitution, the committee on the reflection on the creation of an international criminal jurisdiction, and the debate group on the future of Europe. In addition, she held the position of coordinator of the committee of European Union experts in charge of directing a project on European criminal law called Corpus Juris. Ms. Delmas-Marty has received several doctoral degrees: honoris causa from the universities of Liège, Urbino, Uppsala, Peking, Louvain, Montréal and Ferrare. She is an associate member of Académie royale de Belgique (the Royal Academy of Belgium). She holds the French order of national merit.
Ms. Delmas-Marty has written many significant publications, such as Models and Movements of Criminal Policies, The Major Systems of Criminal Policies, and Comparative Legal Studies and the Internationalisation of Law.
