Ms. Jennifer E. Briscoe is Senior Counsel at the Ottawa Federal Prosecution Service with the Department of Justice. She was admitted to the Quebec Bar (civil law) in 1988 and practiced in Montreal until moving to Toronto in 1997.
During her time in Montreal, she served as co-chair of the Criminal Division of the Canadian Bar Association. As a member of Justice's Flying Team, she has handled cases in the remote aboriginal areas of the North West Territories, Yukon and Nunavut.
After transferring to Toronto, she spent 2 ½ years as Team Leader at Old City Hall managing the largest intake court in the country. Thereafter, she was given a special assignment providing on-site legal advice to the Toronto Police Service as well as prosecuting mega cases.
Her experience with extradition and mutual legal assistance has taken her to Italy, Germany and several U.S. destinations. A frequent lecturer and panellist at McGill University, University of Montreal, Canadian Bar Association, and the Advocate Society, Ms. Briscoe also participates in community outreach programs.
She has a B.A. in English, a LL.B from the University of Ottawa and has just completed the course requirements for the LL.M Program at Osgoode, York University.
