Since 2003, Judge Kevin Parker has served as a Judge of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY). He was Vice President of the ICTY from 2005 to 2008 and Presiding Judge of Trial Chamber II from 2009. Judge Parker has presided over five trials at the ICTY (3 of which were multiple accused), is presently in the final stages of completing the trial of General Vlastimir Dordevic, has previously conducted enquires into the deaths in custody of Slobodan Milosevic and Milan Babic, and serves as a member of the Rule 11bis Chamber (transfer of cases to Balkans) and the ICTY Rules Committee. Judge Parker holds a LLB from the University of Western Australia (Aus.) and was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1977. He has served as Chief Prosecutor (1972-74) and Solicitor General (1979-94) of Western Australia before being called to the Bench of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1994, where he served as a Judge until 2003. Judge Parker was also a member of the Australian Delegations to the UN Commission on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) and of the Australian Negotiating Team regarding the marine boundaries between Australia and Indonesia.
