Dr. Wolfgang Pasternak is a German attorney and tax advisor from Berlin. He is currently serving as a Visiting Professional within Chambers at the ICC, and more specifically with the Presiding Judge Bruno Cotte of Trial Chamber II. After seven years of practicing real estate tax law with one of the so-called Big Four global audit firms, advising international corporate clients, he resolved to go back to his roots in the field of public international law and human rights: He earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International & Comparative Law from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC. Inspired by his then-professor and now ICJ Judge Thomas Buergenthal, Mr. Pasternak went on to author a Ph.D. (in German) on “Truth Commissions Compared: El Salvador, Guatemala, and South Africa” at the University of Cologne.
