Roundtable on victim and witness protection

The Registry of the International Criminal Court (ICC) will hold a roundtable on the protection of victims and witnesses on 29-30 January 2009 at the seat of the Court in The Hague.

The roundtable will provide an opportunity to brief in detail relevant NGOs, international organisations and tribunals on the ICC protection system, the challenges for the Court and what support is required for the Court to succeed in this area.

Among the modules to be discussed are: the ongoing involvement of the Victims and Witnesses Unit with relocated cases, and the specific measures to be taken regarding insider witnesses and the role of the defence. The Registrar welcomes the potentially valuable feed-back and input of the participants on these issues.
