ICC President thanks UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for his support of the Court

The President of the International Criminal Court ("ICC" or "the Court"), Judge Silvia Fernández de Gurmendi, met on Tuesday, 1 November 2016 in New York with the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Mr. Ban Ki-moon.

During the meeting, President Fernández thanked Mr. Ban Ki-moon for his strong and principled support of the Court during his mandate as Secretary-General, and presented him with a special edition of the Rome Statute of the ICC in recognition of his efforts.

Delivering her annual report to the UN General Assembly the previous day, 31 October 2016, President Fernández expressed her appreciation of the Secretary-General's dedicated service to the international community and his enormous efforts in the furtherance of peace, justice, tolerance, the rule of law and the protection of human rights.

While the International Criminal Court is not part of the United Nations, the two organisations cooperate in accordance with a Relationship Agreement concluded in 2004.
