Building support: ICC First Vice-President Aitala concludes official visit to Denmark
On 23 May 2025, the First Vice-President of the International Criminal Court (“ICC”), Judge Rosario Salvatore Aitala, met with Denmark’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr Lars Løkke Rasmussen, in Copenhagen.
Vice-President Aitala expressed the ICC’s appreciation for Denmark’s steadfast and unwavering support for the Court as an independent and impartial institution. During the visit, the First Vice-President discussed the Court’s current challenges and its role as a cornerstone of the international rules-based order.
Denmark reaffirmed its support for the ICC and its independence, and further underlined that the Court plays a vital role in a time where international rules are under pressure.
